Increase in electric forklift sales linked to sustainable business
Electric forklift sales | Sustainability is speedily becoming an important key performance indicator for most, if not all, companies. Taking care of our environment is not only part of our responsibility towards humanity, but it is also good business if implemented correctly.
Logistic partners, buyers and users of forklift trucks are constantly experiencing pressure to show how their operations are contributing to reducing their carbon footprint. According to The Natural Marketing Institute, customers are 58% more likely to buy from companies that actively try to reduce their environmental impact. Furthermore, companies also tend to spend up to 20% more with you when they do decide to purchase.
Luckily, as the pressure increases for operations, the supply of relevant solutions has also increased. One such solution is an electric forklift. It simply makes sense – electric forklifts have zero engine emissions. This poses a win-win scenario for all, as these electric forklifts also offer improved ergonomics and less technical challenges, and limited preventative maintenance requirements.
Technology for diesel-fuelled has evolved and most equipment is sophisticated to the point of limiting fuel efficiency and consequently reducing harmful emissions. It is, however, not possible to reduce the CO2 emissions level of diesel-operated forklifts to zero. And while fuel efficiency can be controlled, actual fuel emission still depends on the amount of carbon in the fuel used.
It seems obvious that fossil fuel reduction is the main reason to opt for electric forklifts. When it comes to diesel forklifts, non-renewable oil derived fuels are not the only consumable that an internal combustion forklift engine needs to keep running. Diesel-driven engines have considerably more moving parts than an electric forklift and require maintenance and services include other things like oil filters, transmission fluid, engine oil and coolant that need to be replaced often and disposed of. In contrast to the forklift repairs and maintenance needed for diesel drivelines, the electric forklift variant has only the battery to replace, which today is nearly 98% recyclable.

Reducing Your Energy Need, Reduces Energy Consumption and Cost
Electric forklifts use energy generated almost three-fold more efficiently than diesel engines. Electrically driven engines convert up to 90% of their electrical energy into usable work, with diesel converting 40%. Interestingly, whilst the electric forklift generates more energy, it gives off less heat. This yet again reduces the need for forklift repairs, maintenance and servicing, as the forklift is less mechanically complex.
Being able to reduce your carbon emissions gives you a competitive edge over your competitors. Customers are increasingly opting for suppliers that can demonstrate their climate commitments. This means, your green credentials could earn you an increase in contracts and allows your clients to boast how green and sustainable their supply chains are. Complying with environmental guidelines could also likely see you gain ground with government departments, local government or large corporations signed up to climate agreements, since you can help them meet their green requirements.
