Toyota Industrial Equipment, part of the EIE Group, is assisting Polyoak Packaging Go Green, with the hand-over of a fleet of Toyota electric forklifts, said to be amongst the cleanest and quietest available on the market. Polyoak’s fleet now features the newly released 2018 model of the 8FBN forklift, the first to be supplied by Toyota Industrial Equipment in South Africa.
The full solution includes Toyota Forklift 8FBN18 / 8FBN25 and 8FD25 models, together with Hawker battery and charger systems – testimony to the total solutions provided by Toyota Industrial Equipment. The machines will be deployed for loading and offloading trucks and moving raw materials at Cape Town and Gauteng operations of Polyoak Packaging, a leading Southern African rigid plastic packaging manufacturer.
The forklifts, provided in Polyoak Packaging’s corporate colours, were delivered with factory-fitted canvas cabins, windscreens and wipers, as well as polycarbonate rear screens and Blue Point safety lights, designed to minimize the risk of accidents around machinery. Equipped with the advanced Toyota I-site Monitoring System and pre-operational check, the forklifts give operators ongoing support for ease of fleet management, as well as providing a paperless way for the drivers to do their daily checks and ensure that the truck is reliable and safe to use.
A best-in-class-brand, the energy efficient Toyota 8FBN series forklift was introduced to meet customer demands for longer operating times between charges, improved run times and higher performance for increased productivity, efficiency and safety. Features such as the pedal-stroke detection regenerative brake system improve the efficiency of energy recovery, while safety features include the turn-speed control that automatically limits the forklift’s speed when turning.
“This order is the latest in the long-term business relationship that we have developed with Polyoak Packaging, and we are proud that we are able to support this valued client in its drive to be as environmentally friendly as possible throughout its operations,” commented Gary Neubert, EIE Group’s CEO. “Through our commitment to delivering optimal life-time value for our customers, we carried out demonstrations of the machines onsite during the contract negotiations and discussed in detail the new technologies of both the electric forklifts and the new battery concepts coming into South Africa. We will continue to grow this partnership for life through monthly meetings.”
As the sole distributor of Toyota Forklift, BT, Raymond and Flexi material handling equipment in Southern Africa, the EIE Group is the largest supplier of forklifts to the Southern African market and has the most comprehensive product support infrastructure in the region.
